Caryn Ger


Caryn is an experienced litigation lawyer who has practiced predominantly in highly complex personal injury litigation.

Caryn has represented both plaintiffs and defendants. Caryn has specialised in the management of claims involving complex breach, causation and quantum issues, particularly in the medical negligence space. Caryn also has experience in general liability, product liability, compulsory third party insurance, workers compensation and professional negligence claims. Caryn’s experience includes providing advice to a number of different stake holders, and seeing claims through to early and commercial settlement. Caryn has run from inception to conclusion highly complex medical negligence matters involving multinational pharmaceutical companies, doctors, nurses, midwives and allied health providers.

Caryn has a wealth of advocacy experience in the District and Supreme Courts of New South Wales, and has been involved in multi-party litigation at these levels, including running informal settlement conferences and mediations. Caryn has also advised on the costs recovery process and negotiated costs recovery.

Caryn is an experienced public speaker and has presented to various groups over the course of her career, including the Australasian Society for the Study of Brain Impairment, the University of New South Wales Continuing Legal Education Program, and the Western Sydney Local Health District. Topics have included Medico-Legal Report Writing, Wrongful Birth Wrongful Life claims, Capacity Under the Law, and the National Disability Insurance Scheme. She has published articles in both Precedent magazine and Lawyers Weekly. She has been interviewed for her legal expertise on programs including Weekends Today and A Current Affair.
